Dedicated circuit installation means running a circuit from your panel that serves a single appliance or piece of equipment exclusively, rather than sharing a circuit with other outlets and fixtures in the room. High-demand equipment – kitchen appliances, HVAC systems, workshop tools, home office setups with significant electronics – often requires this both for safe operation and because code requires dedicated circuits for many major appliances.
You need this when installing a new major appliance that requires its own circuit, like a range, dishwasher, or microwave, when setting up a home workshop or garage with power tools that draw more than a shared circuit can handle, when a home office or entertainment setup keeps tripping the breaker it's sharing with other outlets, when installing HVAC equipment that requires dedicated power, or when code requires a dedicated circuit for equipment you're adding that isn't currently wired for it.
We start by confirming what the equipment actually requires – amperage, voltage, and any specific circuit requirements from the manufacturer or code. We run wiring from your panel to the location where the dedicated circuit is needed, sized appropriately for the load, and install a properly rated breaker at the panel dedicated solely to that circuit. Depending on the equipment, this might mean a standard outlet, a specific outlet type for the equipment, or a hardwired connection. We test the completed circuit under load to confirm it's performing as expected before finishing.
Cost depends on the distance from your panel to where the circuit is needed, the amperage and wire gauge required, and accessibility through walls, ceilings, or floors to run the new wiring. Homes in Lamy, NM with panels located far from where new equipment is being installed typically see higher costs due to the additional wiring run required.
